"Cancer treatment can have as much of an effect on a person as the cancer itself. Glendale Adventist is committed to making cancer treatment as easy and painless as possible by providing services close to home and investing in treatment technology that attacks cancer and not the surrounding healthy tissue."
- Albert Mak, MD, Medical Director of Radiation Therapy Services.
At Glendale Adventist Medical Center (GAMC), the battle against cancer is being won thanks to new developments in technology, treatment methods and better screening processes. In fact, five and 10-year survival rates at GAMC are higher than the national average for cancers such as breast, prostate, ovarian, uterine and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. And thanks to major advancements, heightened awareness and action focused on screening and healthy lifestyles, recent studies show that cancer rates continue to drop every year and the rates of those who die from cancer have dropped twice as fast.
While every cancer has its own individual set of risk factors, it is important to remember that early detection and treatment of any cancer often increases cure rates. If you're curious about changes in your body, talk to a doctor. If you're not sure what to do next, ask yourself: what would I do if I weren't afraid? At the Glendale Adventist Medical Center Cancer Center, we understand what it's like to face cancer. We know it's scary but we're here to tell you that there's hope. No matter what your outlook, we're here to help you fight cancer - every step of the way.
